Der Promptus is a Chrome extension that lets you save, organize, and instantly insert your favorite prompts into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, and Perplexity. Stop pasting the same prompt over and over. Store it once, then call it up with a slash shortcut or a single click.

Three ways:

• Toolbar icon. Click the Der Promptus icon in your browser toolbar for the full popup. Free.
• Slash shortcuts. Type / followed by your prompt's shortcut name (e.g. /review) inside the chat box for autocomplete suggestions. Free.
• Keyboard shortcut. Pro ⌘ + Shift + P on Mac, Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows/Linux opens the side panel right inside the AI page.

Every prompt can have a short alias like /review or /translate. The flow:

• Type / plus the alias (or a partial alias) inside any supported AI chat box. A suggestion menu appears as you type.
• Press ↓ to highlight a suggestion.
• Press Space or Tab to insert it. You can also just click the suggestion.
• Press Esc to dismiss the menu without inserting.

Heads up: Enter does not confirm a suggestion. Enter is reserved for sending your message to the AI, so use Space or Tab instead. Anything you typed after the shortcut is preserved and appended to the inserted prompt, perfect for asking the same question about different inputs.

Variables let you put {{placeholders}} inside a prompt that get filled in automatically when you insert it. For example, set {{role}} = "senior engineer" once, and every prompt that uses {{role}} will render with that value.

The variable {{clipboard}} is always available and pastes whatever you last copied. No more manual pasting before asking an AI to summarize, translate, or rewrite something.

Custom variables are a Pro feature; {{clipboard}} works on the free plan too.

Yes. Over 220 curated prompts across seven categories: Coding, Writing, Analysis, Creative, Business, Learning, and Pro. Open the Library from the popup, browse or search, and click Add to My Prompts to save any of them to your own collection.

Anyone can browse the full library and save prompts (within the 10 prompt free limit). Prompts inside the Pro category Pro (translations, executive rewrites, etc.) require a Pro plan to use.

Click Upgrade to Pro anywhere in the extension (in the popup, on the account page, or the upgrade banner). You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout. After payment, your account is upgraded automatically.

No. On the free plan you can use Der Promptus without signing in, since your prompts are stored locally in your browser. An account is required only for Pro features (cloud sync, multi-device use, billing).

No password. We use magic links: enter your email, and we send you a sign-in link. Click it and you're logged in. That's it.

On the free plan, prompts live only in your current browser. On Pro, your prompts, categories, and variables sync to your account so they're available everywhere you sign in: at home, at work, on another browser.

Free users: Everything is stored locally in Chrome's storage on your device. Nothing leaves your computer.

Pro users: Prompts sync to your derpromptus.com account over HTTPS. We don't share or sell your data, and we never read or use it to train anything.

You can export your full collection to a JSON file any time (Pro), so your data is always portable.

Pro users can export their entire library to a JSON file from the popup, and import the same file into any other browser or device. Free users can upgrade at any time to unlock this.

• The global keyboard shortcut is a Pro feature. Make sure your account is upgraded.
• Make sure you've reloaded the AI tab after installing the extension.
• Some shortcuts can collide with other extensions. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts to view and reassign Der Promptus's hotkey.
• The shortcut only works on supported AI sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, Perplexity).

Yes. There's a toggle in the suggestion dropdown and in the extension settings if you'd prefer to insert prompts only through the side panel.

Right-click the Der Promptus icon in the browser toolbar and choose Remove from Chrome. If you're on Pro, your synced prompts stay safe in your account. Sign in from another browser any time to get them back.
